Vodafone is a mobile network service provider that has existed for over 20 years, formed in 1991 from the company Racal Millicom. Their long standing experience in the industry has meant that their services are fine tuned to exactly what the customer wants. Vodafone currently serves around 434 million customers, making it the world’s second largest provider and 19.5 million in the UK, making it the nation’s third largest. Other ventures include the “Vodafone Foundation”- a recognised charity specialising in developing mobile technology to help the vulnerable, as well as a similar company named “mHealth” that focuses on mobile health care.
Vodafone offers a variety of additional services to their customers, including free 24 month subscriptions to NOW TV, Spotify Premium and Sky Sports Mobile when you take out a contract. They’re also one of the first providers to give customers access to their contract or sim rates abroad, for £3 extra per day in Europe and £5 extra per day anywhere else in the world. Sim card allowances are also flexible, meaning that you only pay for what you need at the time you need it.
In 2012 Vodafone and O2 signed a deal to “pool” their network coverage, meaning that Vodafone has extensive 3G and 4G coverage across the country, including 4G in all major cities and towns with superb connection both indoors and outdoors. This is an ever expanding network, with both companies bringing greater coverage to lower populated areas on a weekly basis.
Vodafone sims offer flexible pay as you go rates, allowing you to pay only for what you need. These are in the form of their “Freebee” top-up packages. Each one can be activated with a £10 top-up and provides you with one select benefit, such as unlimited texts, 500mb of data or 60 minutes of international minutes, as well as your £10 credit. Vodafone’s “rewardz” service allows you to build up loyalty points in exchange for items like phone cases, speakers, DVD rentals or even brand new smartphones. Points can be earned every time you top up £5 or more. You are given the option to “grab” an instant reward or “grow” your points to save up for something more. This is only available to pay as you go customers, and if you’re likely to be topping up weekly then this can be a nice bonus on your way to purchasing a new phone.
Vodafone sims offer a range of pay monthly contract sim deals, ranging from just £9.50 a month to £19 a month in both 12-month and 30-day periods. The cheapest offer, £9.50 a month for 12 months or £11.50 for 30 days gives you 250mb of data, 300 minutes and 500 texts, as well as either a free subscription to Now TV, Spotify Premium or Sky Sports for the length of your contract if the period is 12 months. Their largest package costs £15.30 a month for 12 months or £19 a month for 30 days, offering 1GB of 4G data, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts.
All Vodafone sims cards are free to order, deliver and activate, although with a contract it is necessary to pay for your first month before anything is sent out. Pay as you go gives you complete freedom over your payments, while a contract will give you the cheapest price for the best value.
